Purpose:
To explain to desert residents how and why we must take better care of our trees. Healthy trees look better and increase property value.

Statement:
Over 85% of all trees planted here in our community do not belong in the desert. Desert trees grow low and wide to the ground, giving them protection from high, gusty winds and uncompromising levels of heat.

A bear goes to a cave and hibernates. It will lie down and sleep. Its body will feed off its own fats. Breathing will slow down; no water, no food consumption. When the bear awakens, he is hungry, thirsty and angry. If we were able to put food and water at the entrance of his cave, this would fulfill all the bear’s needs and minimize the stress and shock to his body. Here in the desert the trees are much like the bear, shutting down in the winter. In the spring the trees, much like the bear, need to be replenished. Here at Branch Management Tree Service, our tree health maintenance programs ensure good, strong root health.

Step 1 – Trim
We trim the tree properly using ISA standards set by the National Society of Arboriculture. This promotes reduction of wind resistance, promotes structural integrity and limits liability to the property.

Step 2 – Deep Root Fertilization
This process requires a professionally built, high-pressured machine to allow the tree care professional to stick a probe into the ground and aerate the soil. Each soil penetration puts a hole into the ground which gives oxygen and slow release fertilizer, food and water. It takes six visits to each plant to build a healthy root system, which is feeding a plant three times a year for two years. After the third year, the feeding can be reduced to once a year.

If in Arizona, if water that weighs eight pounds per gallon not penetrate the soil; then how can oxygen?

NOTE: Proper Watering by Owner
Proper watering must be administered, preferably before and after deep root fertilization. Too much water will suffocate the soil and create root rot. It is recommended to deep water 4” – 6” below grade. Water on most trees must be three feet from trunk to the drip line, which is to the outside of the canopy of the tree. Most newly planted trees have water emitters too close to the trunk of the tree. Remember the tree is as large underground as it is above ground.

In this harsh desert environment, the trees that do not belong here can survive if property maintained. Because of the high levels of sodium in the soil, the feeder root, which is the mouth, becomes destroyed. Thus, some trees that have dysfunctional root systems must receive a specific treatment to revive the plant.

Dear Customer,
Branch Management Professionals have worked on trees in our community, we listen and do what is needed for the care of your trees. The alternative is sick, unhealthy, diseased or dead trees. At this point, you will spend two to three times more money, and in most cases, lose the tree without our professional care.

Trimming
Folks, stop hiring non-professional people – they create more damage and cost to you and your tree. Remember, we create value!

Problem
Trees taller than 15 feet in the high winds of the desert get torn up, mangled and knocked over. We eliminate such problems.

Solution
Thin and shape the tree. Landscapers are not tree professionals. They have a tendency to strip branches, elevating the canopy. This takes away structure, weakens the existing branches and exposes the interior to the sun creating sun scorch. When receiving a professionally-written tree evaluation, Branch Management will minimize cost of maintenance for now, 3, 7 and 10 years, thereby increasing property value.

Doctoring Trees
We administer shots that go into the vein of the tree. This produces new root growth that helps the tree system become functional. Energy flows from the earth – to the roots – to the trunk – out of the branches to the sky. Then energy comes from the sky – the sun, creating Vitamins A and D – moisture coming into the leaves; it’s one circular motion like the waves coming in and going out on the beach. What we want is the tree to be harmonious with the earth. By spending little money and having the correct tree health plan, we create positive results.

Stump Grinding
Stump grinding is the most practical method of removing an unwanted stump. It costs less than removal (pulling the stump and roots out of the ground) and landfill dumping fees.

A stump grinder resembles a sophisticated lawn mower with a big wheel containing teeth on the front. The wheel turns at the rate of 2300 rpm creating sawdust when hitting the wood. The wooden stump is ground down into the ground 10” – 24”, and a new tree can be planted directly in this location. When completed, all that remains is a pile of sawdust and dirt. NOTE: We are not responsible for sprinkler lines that trees have grown around.

Summary
Healthy trees create greater property value. Branch Management is that one tree specialist that can maximize that value!
